The 2019 FIA Formula One World Championship is an ongoing motor racing championship for Formula One cars which marks the 70th running of the Formula One World Championship. It is recognised by the governing body of international motorsport, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), as the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars. Starting in March and ending in December, the championship is being contested over 20 Grands Prix. Drivers are competing for the title of World Drivers' Champion, and teams for the World Constructors' Champion. The 2019 championship is also scheduled to see the running of the 1000th World Championship race, in China. The series was simulated in Motorsport Manager. The save in the game also includes the custom drivers of Josh Beardmore, Kyle Macleod & Shane Wray.
Lewis Hamilton is the defending World Drivers' Champion, after winning his fifth championship title in the previous season, and Mercedes are the defending World Constructors' Champions, after winning their fifth consecutive championship.
Following the French Grand Prix. Josh Beardmore currently leads the championship for Mercedes, Kyle Macleod is 13 points behind in 2nd after back to back wins, meanwhile Charles Leclerc for Ferrari is 3rd, Defending Champion Lewis Hamilton is 4th for Mercedes and Shane Wray is 5th for Red Bull. Elsewhere Pierre Gasly's no points run continues, it started in Azerbaijan because of this and due to his poor performances Red Bull are apparently looking at the driver market for next season meaning Gasly would likely become reserve driver should this bad form continue.
In the Constructors Championship Ferrari still lead (having lead all season so far) Mercedes but only by 1 point heading into the halfway point at the British Grand Prix, Red Bull are currently in 3rd (as predicted) in a no mans land with 30 points back to 4th placed Renault whose new upgrades have made them a team to look out for from "Britain onwards" a team spokes person said.
Kyle Macleod's start to the season is not what Ferrari were expecting however they say its still early in the season and anything could happen, however should this bad form continue, Ferrari may have to go into contract negotiations with Macleod, however Red Bull, Alfa Romeo and many other teams have stated that Ferrari "Would be foolish to sell Macleod as that means Ferrari's rivals could buy him."
Ten teams, with two drivers each, are due to compete in the championship in 2019.
