Career
Early career
Bovy started karting at the age of 9, 5 years and a few European titles later he moved to British Formula Ford, winning the championship and the Festival in 2004. After finishing 3rd in the British F3 championship he made the step-up to GP2 for 2006, finishing 10th overall.
American Racing
Unable to find a seat in F1, Bovy joined Pacific Coast Motorsports in the Champ Car series, he had a remarkable first season, winning at Cleveland, Toronto and Assen and losing the title to Sebastien Bourdais by 15 points. He easily secured the Rookie of the Year award.
After the reunification of American open-wheel racing in 2008, Bovy continued with Pacific Coast in the Indycar Series, running on street and road courses only as he was not comfortable with racing on ovals. His part-time season was a major success, finishing 2nd at St. Petersburg and Long Beach and winning almost every subsequent road/street course event.
Formula One
Bovy's US results caught the attention of USF1, who agreed to run him in all Friday Free Practice sessions. His times often were close to and occasionally beat those set by the regular drivers.
USF1 surprisingly decided to release Bovy, leading him to move to Lola F1 where he would finally make his full-time debut alongside Mark Webber.
RWRS
After his F1 career was over, Bovy moved to RWRS in the GT-Rejects World Championship driving Kun Engineering's #87 Ferrari 575.
