Teo Fabi
Teodorico Fabi (born 9th March, 1955 in Milan, Italy) is an Italian former racing driver best known for his appearances in Formula One.
Formula One
1989: McLaren
After a few decent years in CART, including spearheading the nascent Porsche IndyCar program, Fabi unexpectedly returned to the Formula One grid with 1988 champions McLaren, after defending champion Jérémy-Étienne Voeckler suddenly left the team ahead of 1989.
Fabi's season began well, finishing in second place behind Ferrari's Ayrton Senna in the season opener in Brazil - before a run of retirements saw him slip behind in the standings. He eventually finished fifth in the standings, participating in the first 12 races before being replaced by Alessandro Nannini.
1993: Jordan
After being somewhat unceremoniously (and perhaps controversially) fired by McLaren, Fabi returned to CART to continue his duties with Porsche. Since achieving substantial progress during the 1989 season, ironically when Fabi was not in the team, the German giants fell off the radar once again as Fabi struggled with reliability. A move to Jaguar in the World Sportscar Championship beckoned, however it would only last one year before the Italian returned Stateside once again.
1993 saw Fabi's yet another comeback to Formula One, this time on a part-time basis with Jordan. He shared the #15 car with Eddie Irvine, who missed several races to concentrate on the Japanese scene. While his Irish compatriot barely had any reliability issues during the season, Fabi retired from four out of the five raced he competed in; his sole finish being a 11th place at the Portuguese Grand Prix. This would mark the end of his Formula One journey.
