The 1966 Elite Racing League season was the 7th season of the FIA's Formula One motor racing support series (the series would remain a support series until 1997.) The Drivers Championship was won by Lorenzo Bandini driving for Ferrari. Ferrari also won the Constructors Championship for the fourth time. Both championships were decided in the final race in Argentina at the Buenos Aries circuit.
Season Review
This was the final year the United States Grand Prix was held at Sebring.
Teams and Drivers
BRM driver Alan Wray took a season leave during this season due to personal reasons.
Bruce McLaren founded the McLaren Formula 1 team this season, he also decided to bring his team to ERL like Jack Brabham did with his team.
A third tyre supplier, Firestone, would enter the series providing tyres for Lotus and McLaren.
