Thomas Yorke (born 14th May 1996 in Halifax, England) is a racing driver formerly contracted to Fusion Motorsports. He will race for Mazzacane Motorsport in the F3RWRS in 2016.
Racing Career
RTCC
Yorke was a former driver in the Ginetta Junior Championship, before jumping across to the RTCC to drive for Fusion Motorsports in the 2015 season. In the first race of the season at Oran Park he qualified a low 33rd, but managed to make up places in the race and eventually finished on points in 11th. The second race at the same venue didn't go as well, with him spinning off on the first lap. Fusion then pulled out of the sport citing financial reasons due to their expansion to other racing categories.
F3RWRS
Yorke then joined Good Call Racing in the F3RWRS after Marcos Marcia was moved to the Scuderia Vittore RoLFS outfit. He struggled for most of the season, with a 9th at the second US race being his best. But then out of the blue he notched up an excellent win in the second race of the Round of Japan from 18th on the grid.
Although he had intended to move to the WTCC, Niko Nurminen persuaded the Brit to stay in the RWRS, finding him a seat at the new Mazzacane Motorsport operation. He immediatedly impressed his new team at the first race of the season in Adelaide by finishing 4th in the first start, although in the second start he retired after suspension problems caused him to collide with Shane Walsh.
F1RWRS
Yorke made his F1RWRS debut in the non-championship 2016 French Grand Prix, driving Nurminen Racing Engineering's first car along with Tommi Hämäläinen. In the race they performed well by scoring the fastest lap and leading by a wide margin at one point, but the Chrysler engine eventually blew up.
