Partnership with Formula Asia

Following the success of the Motegi 500 oval race, it was announced that future events from 2000 will be partnered with Formula Asia. The partnership was an attempt to deliver more Asian talent and to diversify the grid with drivers from different Asian countries including those who are regulars in Formula Asia. This was welcomed by the Formula Asia board who stated that partnering with a Japanese racing event would be a boost to the Asian drivers looking to develop their careers further.
