The Caterham Winter Series, commonly refered to as CWS, was a sprint-type racing series held by the WMS Group, together with Caterham, in the Middle-East. The car used was the Caterham SP/300R, a prototype-like car that features an engine developed by Caterham themselves, putting up 300HP.
Format
The series featured an "arrive and drive" concept. 18 drivers were entered for the CWS inaugural season, with them beeing split into teams of 2. For each race weekend, 4 wildcars were given to drivers who whiched to participate in the series. The race weekened featured a 20 minutes practice session, so the drivers could get up to speed with the cars, a 20 minutes qualifying session, which determined the grid for both races, and two 30 minute races. Points were handed out to the top 10 drivers, with a 15-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 points scheme. There were four separate championships to compete for: an overall one, one for the Pro drivers, one for the Am drivers, and one for the teams.
