2016 Pit Lane Cup

The 2016 Pit Lane Cup, was a football competition organsied by Kamaha Motorsports to help pass the time during F1RWRS testing at the Kyalami circuit in South Africa.

Alitalia became the first team to win the Pit Lane Cup when they beat CR Motorsports 2–0. Dofasco claimed third place by beating Arrowtech 7-4 in extra time.

48 matches were played with 230 goals being scored. Revolution won the wooden spoon award for being the worst team in the competition.

Squads

Squads were made up of non professional players, including drivers, team personel (from Principals to HR Staff), catering staff and fans.

Group stage

Teams were broken in 4 groups with 5 teams per group. Groups were picked by random draw.

Group A

Tropico won the group, if unconvincingly winning it, with a late winner against Revolution and scoring an own goal against Mecha to get a draw and not a clean sweep of wins. Mecha went unbeaten as they played with a solid defence and only let in 3 goals, however a lack of fire power up front meant a lack of goals and 4 goals was all they could show, with a win and three draws. Foxdale on the other hand scored the most goals in the group but a poor defence meant that they lost against Mecha when they should have won. Simpson and Revolution play the dullest game of the tournament with Simpson getting a late penalty and winning 1-0, although both teams managed a total 4 shots on goal.

Wooden Spoon Award

The Wooden Spoon Award was given to the worst team. The teams at the bottom of each group played each other in a knock out draw with the loser going onto the finals. The loser winning the Wooden Spoon for being the worst team.
