The NewF1 series is a motor racing championship for Formula One cars which is recognised by the sport's governing body, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), as the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars. The revamped series came about in order to bring more interest to the competition, especially the fight at the bottom of the Constructors' Championship, as the bottom two teams are relegated each season, to be replaced by the top two NewGP2 teams.
Other changes brought about by the revamped series included points scoring for placing down to 15th position, one lap per session in qualifying per driver, and changes to tyre compounds.
