The 1996 Duel in the Desert was a non-championship race that occurred at Phoenix Street Circuit around the tight, arid streets of Phoenix, Arizona. The race was an addendum to the 1996 F1RGP2C season and featured ten guest drivers who raced alongside the regular drivers from the F1RGP2C. Also, Douglas Mann replaced John Zimmer at Benetton and Jan van der Maeyede replaced Leonhard von Gottorp at Jordan. The race was won by Tom Douglas.
