Duval was announced as Renault's second driver in 2006 after a year spent as reserve. Duval picked his first points up with a fourth place in the Australian Grand Prix which saw the Frenchman begin a good consistent run in the points. Duval picked up a maiden win in the Italian Grand Prix which would secure seventh place in the Driver's standings. Despite a good season, Duval was not retained in 2007.
