- The Belgian Grand Prix was dropped from the 2003 season because of the country's tobacco laws; several teams were in violation of these laws due to their then sponsorship and certain clauses in their contracts.
- The French Grand Prix was dropped from the 2003 season in late March because of unpaid hosting fees. To avoid a month without a F1 race, the European and British Grand Prix dates were changed on short notice.
