Dean Melville

Dean Melville is an Australian racing driver who competed in the 2015 RoLFS season. He is the twin brother of Daniel Melville.

Career

Dean made his debut in Formula Ford in Australia at 16, alongside his brother. While Daniel finished second in the championship, Dean struggled and only finished fifth. He continued in Australian Formula Ford in 2012, and this time finished 3rd. When his brother signed for John Zimmer's young driver program, Daniel convinced him to sign Dean as well. Dean, now driving for ZimSport, raced in British Formula 3 alongside Daniel and was much more competitive, finishing 4th in both 2013 and 2014. Zimmer originally had him continue in the series for 2015, but when Olafur Ragnar Hannesson left his RoLFS team part way through the year, Dean was promoted for the round at Fern Bay in Jamaica.

RoLFS

Melville managed to get through the heat race on his debut, but caused many incidents during the feature race and was eventually disqualified from the race and given a two race ban. He returned at the double header in Kyoto, setting fastest lap in his heat race and taking a podium in the feature on the first weekend, but he struggled in the Super 200 with a poor setup. However, he did enough to convince Zimmer to give him a run at the 2015 Surfers SuperPrix in an F3RWRS car.

F1RSTC

During his ban from the RoLFS, Zimmer asked Melville if he would drive in the F1RSTC to keep racing. Melville accepted, and while he struggled initially, he won the race at Akrotiri Bay.
