* demoted three places for causing an avoidable accident

Report:

Whilst he did not manage to keep these stars behind them, Kevin Magnussen drove an amazing race.

38 races, 19 countries, 2,508 championship points handed out and almost 5,800 kilometres: it has been a long season of Formula One and it was all about closing out the season strong to build a foundation for 2020.

The final race of the season almost did not happen, as the extreme rain prevented racing from actually getting underway for the majority of the race. The Safety Car led the field for the first 26 laps of the event.

Having 60 percent of the race behind the SC is a record for Formula One. Yet, the fans that stuck around were rewarded, because they saw an interesting race once the situation was safe enough for the stars.

They saw heroic performances by Magnussen, who started an amazing fourth and held on to that position, making his rivals work for it. Meanwhile, Sirotkin proved valueable for BR Mansell, climing 13 places.

Fastest Lap:

Diego Álvarez Torrente – 1:18.602

Infinite Improbability Drive Of The Race:

Sergey Sirotkin – moving up from 22nd to 9th is a great run, especially in these conditions.

Reject Of The Race:

Sebastian Vettel – taking out a Sauber in two consecutive races is just awful.
